Westech display

Last weeks (13-14th Sept) Westech field days went really well.  Photos attached of my site showing your gorgeous banners (as well as the  artworks, framed and canvas prints). We noticed EVERYONE look up at them which was great!!

The bird on the fence – named “Little Observer” was a favourite.

Peter Eastway judged and out of the 4 artworks I entered I received an award for 3 !!
I got 2 Highly Commendeds and the bird on the fence got 2nd for Monochrome.

So although I did not take out a major prize I am very excited at receiving 3 of the 12 awards presented.

At Spectrum, we completed another project for the Catholic Seminary Banyo Brisbane. We created the concept, designed the wall, photographed virtually all the stained glass windows in the cathedrals in Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Brisbane and Toowoomba.  We then produced all the  “Fine Art” Canvas Prints  combining images of stained glass from each cathedral into the graphic design for the final feature wall. We then displayed each canvas print on a single wall. The display was commissioned by Monsignor Anthony Randazzo

The new Holy Spirit Provincial Seminary Rector Monsignor Anthony Randazzo says it is a outstanding Display.

Msgr Randazzo has lived and worked for the last five years in The Vatican, under the title of ’Addetto di Segreteria’ - an official of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. - The Catholic Leader

Here at Spectrum, we were pleased to have printed  all of the largest “Fine Art” prints  for the Douglas Kirkland Exhibition. The prints were printed on Hahnemuhle “Photo Rag”. The proof prints were personally approved by Douglas Kirkland and all were printed without any corrections to the proofs supplied. Canvas Print Wall Display Graduating Photos of Catholic Priests 1948-2001

Here at Spectrum, we scanned all the old archived graduation photos of the Ordination of Priests, held by the Catholic Seminary at Banyo. We retouched and updated all the images and produced  “Fine Art” Canvas Prints of each graduating year,  dated from 1948 to 2001. We then displayed each canvas print on a single wall. The display was commissioned by Father Michael McCarthy.

BIO:
Alan is a talented artist from Ipswich, Southern Queensland.
Alan has been a  resident of the Ipswich region since 1974, he has enjoyed capturing the beauty of the disctrict. Landscape has dominated the life and art of the artist, both from early years in Papua New Guinea and since 1974 when he moved to Pine Mountain on Brisbane’s western environs.
Primarily a representational artist, he works in various mediums; mostly oils, acrylic, watercolour and pastel, however large realist landscapes in oil and acrylic are most typically what he is known for.

Awards

His first award and first competition in the professional arena was awarded by the Director of the Queensland Art Gallery in 1982 and since 1983 he has won numerous awards and prizes, some 39 in 1986 alone, for various mediums and subjects in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, regional centres throughout Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. Since 1988 he rarely enters competitions, preferring to exhibit in galleries or his own studio in Ipswich.

Commissions

Corporate, civic and privately commissioned works for widely differing applications have been successfully undertaken. Many have been reproduced for corporate promotions, commemorations and limited edition reproductions.

Exhibitions

Numerous solo, shared and society exhibitions have been shown throughout the eastern states of Australia, but mostly in Queensland.

Brisbane City Hall Original Architectural Plans

Brisbane City Hall Original Plans
Spectrum was pleased to supply the scans and working drawing prints from the original “Ink on Waxed Linen” architectural plans “circa 1900′s” for the Brisbane City Hall.
These plans were very delicate and were up to 1m wide and 1.5m long.
Most of the original plans were in Black and White, however some were in colour and much of the detail was a bit “faded”. We however did not loose a line or measurement detail with our scans and the final reproduction was excellent.

A “Digital Photographic Workshop” sponsored by The Queensland Arts Council
I conducted  2 Days of a “classroom” workshop dedicated to digital photography which followed the photography of the paintings for Jo Martin’s “Artesian Country” Book
The workshop’s topics covered camera techniques, The “Golden Ratio” technique of framing cropping photograph, digital workflow and the use of “Adobe Photoshop®” to get the best out of your images. It was technical, yes, but digital photography does require the photographer to come to grips with the digital world if they wish to be truly independent.

The big screen

A special thanks Louise Gronold for organisation, to the Department of Main Roads for the venue, the big screen and catering and to the Queensland Arts Council for the opportunity. I had a great time and everyone, and I mean everyone was friendly and helpful. “Barky” is a great country town.
